After many years working as a Designer & Design Director in the fashion Industry in London & New York., it felt like the right time to return my original love of Printmaking. A few years ago a gift of a weekend Workshop at Edinburgh PrintMakers studying the art of Japanese Woodcut sparked a renewed love of all things print & pattern. That was followed by many visits & workshops at bip-Art in Brighton and many hours sketching both in sketch books & i pad Betikat Print House was born.
My inspirations are heavily influenced from the world of Fashion & Textiles & Interiors as well as Urban Landscapes of the cities I love & have been lucky enough to call home. Layering is an important part of my print work, I love to play with textures & patterns & can’t resist a pop of colour amidst the monochromes.
Betikat Print House is Brighton & Hove based and all wood / lino-cut prints & digital collages & are created here & printed locally. Wood cuts & Lino prints are printed either by barren at home or using the beautiful Columbian Press at bip-Art, https://bip-art.co.uk. All the Giclee prints are printed by the fab folk at Tin Dogs Fine Art , https://tindogs.com
The Attic space is planned as a home for all the lovely vintage & up-cycled things that pretty much reflect both my personal & interior style & approach to design throughout my career. Found treasures to love & take home.
And if you ever wondered about the print house name - here’s Betty - she spent the Nineties & Noughties traveling with us from London to New York to Brighton, it’s our little tribute to our old lady no longer with us.
